
MTC ACQUIRES STAKE IN CHILEAN LOGISTICS FIRM
SAN FRANCISCO – 02/17/07 – Bay Area-headquartered logistics service company MTC International has acquired a stake in Transtainer SA, a logistics company based in San Antonio Port, Chile, and its terminal operating subsidiary, Seaport SA.
Transtainer SA operates a fleet of trucks specialized in container transportation and a fleet of reach stackers, forklifts and side lifters. Seaport SA handles not only Chilean import and exports, but also provides transit cargo operations for shippers in Argentina and other South American countries.
The company specializes in providing cargo logistics for agricultural, forest and industrial export companies and retail, industrial, and automobile import products.
Approved by Chilean Customs as a bonded warehouse operator, the Transtainer SA provides services in the vicinity of San Antonio Port.
Marine Terminals Corp. provides contract stevedore, warehouse, and terminal operating company services for all types of commodities, including more than six million TEUs annually through is 32 terminal facilities on the US West and East Coasts.
The company, founded in 1931, provides its global services through MTC International and MTC de Mexico and has joint ventures with several major ocean carriers and affiliates in transportation-handling equipment and IT software.

DISNEY TO LAUNCH TV CHANNEL IN RUSSIA

BURBANK – 12/31/08 – The Walt Disney Company has said it will team-up with Media-One Holdings Ltd. to launch a Disney-branded television channel in Russia in 2009; Disney will have a 49% stake in the venture in exchange for a cash investment and content acquisition, according to a recent piece in the Los Angeles Business Journal.

STOCKTON – 12/05/08 – The Port of Stockton has received approval from the US Dept. of Commerce (DOC) Foreign Trade Zones Board for expansion of its Foreign Trade Zone No. 231; the expansion at the nearly 475-acre Opus West Park in East Stockton is the eighth site approved in Stockton by the DOC and is sited adjacent to the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railroad line linking Central California with points throughout the country.

NETSUITE GOES LIVE IN SINGAPORE

SAN MATEO – 10/28/08 – Business management software developer NetSuite Inc. has launched a new venture - NetSuite OneWorld in Singapore; the move was spurred by forecasts that that Asia-Pacific software as a service (SaaS) revenues will grow from $274 million in 2007 to around $1.8 billion by 2011.
