The publisher and editor of the CalTrade Report is Michael D. White.

He is also the producer and host of the International Business Report - www.intlbusinessreport.com - a weekly PodCast offering timely interviews with luminaries in the firld of world trade and concise coverage of developments in the global business arena.  

A California native with more than 29 years experience in international business, White has held senior-level editorial positions with Pacific Shipper Magazine (San Francisco) , International Business Magazine (White Plains, New York), the International Trade & Business Journal (Los Angeles), and International Thomson Transport Press (Toronto, Canada).

During his tenure as Managing Editor of World Trade Magazine from 1995 to 1999, the publication was twice lauded as "The Best Business Magazine in the Western United States" by the Western Publications Association with the magazine receiving several major awards for both graphic design and editorial content. 

White holds a degree in journalism from California State University - Northridge, and a Diploma in International Business from the Japan External Trade Organization's Institute of International Studies and Training (IIST) in Tokyo, Japan.

In addition, he has also served in executive positions with the Foreign Trade Association of Southern California, the Southern California Steamship Association, and the Export Managers Association of California.

Before breaking into journalism, White worked in the transportation industry as an intermodal clerk with the Southern Pacific Railroad and served for five years as the North American Public Relations & Media Manager for Mitsui OSK Lines, one of the largest ocean carriers serving the transpacific trades.

With more than 575 published global business and transportation articles to his credit, White has traveled extensively while covering international business in Canada, Hong Kong, China, and Japan and is a member of the American Society of Business Publications Editors and the Society of Professional Journalists.

He is also the author of the book, "International Marketing Blunders," published in 2001 by Novato, California-based World Trade Press, which has become a standard text in the international business departments of several schools across the country including California Polytechnic University (CalPoly) - San Luis Obispo, the College of Charleston, Ohio State University, and Azusa Pacific University.

He has participated in numerous international trade conferences and seminars in the US and Canada as both a moderator and panelist, and has taught classes on a variety of topics including international marketing, logistics, and the basics of international trade.

In addition to his work in the print media, White gained considerable experience early in his career in the newsroom of KFWB-Newsradio in Los Angeles, and as the producer and on-air host of a half-hour daily news program heard on KCSN-FM in Northridge, California. 

He also covered the World Trade Organization's Ministerial Summit in Seattle, Washington in 1999, reporting, writing and delivering three 10-minute radio feeds per day during the course of the entire five-day Summit for WGSI Radio in Atlanta, Georgia.

His comments on global trade issues have also been quoted in a number of publications including the Orange County (California) Register, California Journal, the Los Angeles Daily News, the Santa Cruz Sentinel, the Inland Empire Business Journal, the Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, the Christian Science Monitor, and the Journal of Commerce.

White has also testified three times before committees of both the California State Senate and Assembly on the impact of global trade on the California economy.

He has also been interviewed on National Public Radio, CNN Radio, and the Voice of America - European Edition.
